Systemic and OPDMC (Organization for the Promotion of the Rights of Women and Children in Guinea-Bissau) have joined forces to create a school for orphaned and vulnerable children in the Bambadinca community in Guinea-Bissau. The initiative is led on the ground by Sandji Seidi, founder of OPDMC, which seeks to promote the rights of women and children in the region. The school was established in November 2022 and began operating in December of the same year, welcoming 100 children of different ages. Its aim is to provide basic education, including literacy, as well as teaching rules of citizenship and women's inclusion. More than a building, the school represents hope and is considered a catalyst for change in the community, symbolizing the transformative power of education. Systemic has been financially supporting initiatives in Bambadinca since November 2021. Many of these activities include training on human rights, women's rights, children's rights, women's leadership, gender-based violence, menstrual hygiene, secretarial work, citizenship, sexual harassment in schools and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. As well as facilitating access to education, this joint project creates a space for dialogue and positive change, demonstrating Systemic's active commitment to promoting human rights and empowering communities. Our dream is to raise funds to significantly improve the conditions of this school: a school in Africa that has photovoltaic panels, fridges and freezers so that other small businesses can also be developed by the community. A dream that we will do everything we can to achieve!
